MY BALI HOLIDAY...

The first thing was deciding which equipment to take. Do I take the expensive stuff and be paranoid about it getting stolen or knocked around or take the cheap, old equipment and make the most of it. In the end I took my very old Canon 350D an 18-55mm(which broke on day 3!) and a 50mm lens, I was supposed to be on holidays after all.

It has been 15 years since I have been to Bali and it has changed in so many ways. I was sad to see so much development especially in Ubud. Endless, overpriced Boutiques, Ralph Lauren Polo and Paul Smith, choked up traffic where we would often just sit and shell peanuts and play guitar. Overthrown with Eat, Pray, love devotees in search of food, spirituality or love. Luckily we found our spot on the beautiful Bukit Peninsular, where just an hour from Kuta it is reasonably peaceful with great surf, magical sunsets, tasty food and bintang and less pollution. Some things have improved for the better, people don't just tip their rubbish out in the street and the increase of westerners seeking a healthy yogic lifestyle has brought organic food and salads. I also seemed to forget how warm and gentle the people are. Their sense of community, generosity and willingness to help anyone in need is unlike any other country I have been to. Their devotion to Hinduism and daily spiritual rituals is humbling. So here it is, Bali through my eyes....
